Debt-Free Scholarship Winner
Alyssa Gilbert, daughter of NHFCU employee Lisa Gilbert, is among the recipients of this year’s John R. Young Career Enhancement Scholarships. Alyssa posed with her adorable pal, “Tostito” (pictured, left), when she dropped by to receive her big check.
Impressively, Alyssa earned her bachelor’s degree without incurring debt. Now she is on her way to completing Premed at Northeastern University and expects to finish debt-free as well! Alyssa began saving money for college during high school. Not only did she work throughout her teens and college years to fund her education, she pursued and received a number of scholarships from a variety of sources.
Alyssa was inspired to get out of college debt-free thanks to NHFCU’s financial wellness classes. She credits classes like “Money in Your 20s” and “Understanding Credit and Credit Scores” for keeping her from accumulating debt while working toward her academic goals. Congratulations, Alyssa, for your hard work in school and on the job, that has led to you accomplishing your academic and financial goals!
